The great man is he who does not lose his child’s heart.– Mencius (371-291 B.C.)
Yes, that is true for everyone about the medicare payment of $110 comes right out of everyone’s Social Security check. Doesn’t seem right does it. Well not only am I getting older and closer to Medicare it looks like I will still be paying about the same for my healthcare. But I think if you have both parts you don’t have a deductible that has to be met. That is where they get me with my BCBS. The BCBS does have good prescription copays however.
I got a newsletter in my email yesterday telling me I also have to give up my diet drinks. They are saying there is a 61% greater chance for those who are heavy drinkers of diet sodas to have a stroke…geesh..I really can’t have much fun. The last time I went to my Internal Medicine doctor I told him that I had given up candy, meat, cigarettes, alcohol and sex and asked him if that would help me live forever… He looked at me and said ” I don’t know but it’s sure going to seem like it..LOL..Now I really did give up meat and cigarettes 34 years ago. I gave up alcohol at the same time but when I was 55 I started drinking wine because they said it is good for my heart in moderation. I am a candy addict and drinking wine makes me crave candy more so now I have just been drinking diet Pepsi forever and surely am addicted to it. Today I made green tea. Hopefully I can wean myself off the diet Pepsi and drink lots of green tea because I am sure going to need lots of it to get as much caffeine as the diet Pepsi. LOL
One of the biggest savings I have made in the past two years is by trimming my miniature horses hooves myself. I am going out now to trim two of my mini stallion’s hooves even though it is really pretty hot out there. I spent the last 14 years paying around $800 every 6 weeks to have my 21-30 miniature horses feet trimmed by a farrier and then a High Performance Barefoot Trimmer started doing their feet and gave me lessons on how to do a nice barefoot trim on them. It truly is an art form and I love doing it. I have the luxury of only doing one or two on a given day so I don’t get as tired as the professionals do and I can really enjoy myself doing something so very very important for a horse’s well being. I have joined several equine forums and have gained a tremendous amount of information as well as confidence in doing it myself. My trimmer is always around if I need her and checks on them periodically. I just this week trimmed down the heels of my neighbor’s 1200 lb ArabQuarter Horse. He has osteoarthritis and do to his toe walking his heels weren’t staying on the right level with the toes. I loved doing it and it was good for him and his trimmer didn’t have to make a special trip down and my neighbor didn’t have to pay the trimmer again…a win win for everyone. Have a Wonderful Memorial Day. TTYL

Welcome to my new Blog.
First let me say Happy Memorial Day Weekend to all of you and I hope that you have safe plans to celebrate and remember our service members that protect us all year long and those that have died doing so.
I have spent the last 4 months doing an energy audit here at Zachary Farms and wanted to share some of my findings and views on ways to save money, time and sanity in the 21st century as well as just chat a bit online with just about anything concerned with eco friendly lifestyle, aging, economy, pets including miniature horses, small time farming, hay, cooking and reading or actually just about anything.
Times a wasting and I’m not getting any younger. Next year I will be eligible for Medicare and I hate to wish my life away but I sure am glad I can use a little of what I’ve put in over my years in the work force. Thank God I’m healthy at the present and hopefully I will remain so.
So here we are blogging and I hope that I will hear from someone..LOL.
